Discover Watershed Encounters

Welcome!  Watershed Encounters is a blog-site which seeks to capture the spirit of an illustration made by the late author and founder of L'Abri, Francis Schaeffer.  He described that seemingly small differences in the way we think and live can result in drastically different outcomes, like drops of water flowing this way or that and depending on its direction, a stream or river will result, altering the environment.

This illustration took life on a mountain near his home in Switzerland where the waters would flow either to the frigid North Sea or to the warm waters of Lake Geneva.

God works with human agency and shifts can occur in a life, a community, a culture - even throughout the globe.  Each of these moments is a Watershed Encounter.
